About Kindred
Kindred is a small, independent messaging app for chatting with friends and family. It is a personal project and is not affiliated with Google, Microsoft, Apple, Meta, any bank, or any other company.
What Kindred never asks for
Kindred never asks for your password to another service, bank or card details, phone verification codes, or for you to download or install software. Your Kindred password is only for Kindred, and you should use a password that you don't use anywhere else.
What we store
- The email address, username, and optional profile picture you sign up with.
- An optional bio you add to your profile, which is visible to signed-in members.
- The messages and files you send, so they can sync between your devices.
- Temporary call setup data needed to connect audio calls. Kindred does not record or store call audio.
Accounts and data are handled by Supabase. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are never stored in plain text. Your email address is never shown to other members.
Audio calls require microphone permission and use an encrypted peer-to-peer connection between browsers. Network connection details may be exchanged to establish the call.
Your choices
You can stop using Kindred at any time. To have your account and its data deleted, contact the site owner through the project's GitHub page.
